Job Requirements

  • Four-year high school or equivalent (GED) required
  • Minimum three years of professional or volunteer event experience
  • Valid California driver's license and clear driving record for one year prior to employment
  • Must be punctual and maintain regular, predictable attendance
  • Committed to high safety standards and compliance with all safety laws and policies
  • Capable of performing well under various degrees of pressure
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule including weekends and evenings
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop frequently
  • Ability to perform prolonged strenuous physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds alone or up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Comfortable working around animals and exposure to animal-related hazards
  • Must be available for weekends, holidays, overtime, and mandatory training and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years professional or volunteer event experience in event or marketing related fields
  • Certified Meeting Planner or event/development certificate is a plus
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, event software, and Google Documents
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with vendor management and community partnerships
  • Comfortable asking for donations and organizing cost-saving strategies
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Passion for the Sacramento SPCA’s mission and vision

Job Duties

  • Coordinate special event planning, preparation, day-of management, and post event duties
  • Lead planning of Splashy Hours and Jingle Bell Pup Crawl including securing locations, managing logistics, and maintaining relationships
  • Manage agency’s small to mid-sized third-party fundraising events of $2,500 and under including inquiries, partnerships, and logistics
  • Develop and oversee signature event timelines to keep tasks on track
  • Coordinate vendors’ needs for Doggy Dash and Fall Gala events
  • Respond promptly to participants, partners, vendors, staff, and volunteers via email, phone, voicemail, and mail
  • Update event website information, social media communication plans, and event collateral in partnership with marketing
  • Create and disseminate event packets, maps, logistical details, and materials
  • Maintain event binders and files for reference
  • Coordinate execution of event contracts, proposals, and vendor requirements
  • Contact potential vendors, community partners, and businesses for services, donations, and partnerships
  • Update event databases, fundraising systems, websites, and social media messaging
  • Lead committee meetings and volunteer assignments with Volunteer Manager
  • Oversee event-related tasks including community event calendars, signage, PowerPoints, volunteer management, and decor assistance
  • Coordinate post event thank you cards and surveys
  • Assist Events Manager with post event budget reports and summaries
