Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, coordination, or project management
- Experience working with CVBs, DMOs, hotels, or conference/event venues is a plus
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work varied hours based on event schedule
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to handle conflict and de-escalate situations
- Proficient in standard computer software and event management tools
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors
- Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams
- Commitment to customer service and safety
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred
- Two years of experience in event coordination, planning, or project management
- Knowledge of event planning and coordination for large events
- Familiarity with industry standards for artist fees and event technical requirements
- Understanding of applicable city codes and ordinances
- Proficient in verbal and written communication
- Skilled in conflict resolution and problem solving
- Experience operating standard computer software including spreadsheets and word processing
- Ability to use database management and room layout software
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate events produced by the City of Plano, including meeting room set-up, catering, and audio-visual needs
- Ensure compliance with city regulations, permitting requirements, and industry best practices for events
- Research event components to find the best fit for events
- Curate, oversee, and implement event activities to create a customized experience
- Remain on-site during events to monitor activities and ensure guest safety and satisfaction
- Communicate and coordinate event needs with the entire event team
- Work closely with meeting planners, event organizers, hospitality partners, and local businesses
- Assist in recruitment, coordination, and evaluation of event vendors and talent
- Support artist and talent requirements including hotel, transport, and hospitality coordination
- Prepare and maintain attendance reports and event program evaluations
- Provide customer assistance to the public and other City employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
