Job Description
Apartment Life is a community-focused organization dedicated to enhancing the living experience within apartment communities through tailored events, programs, and resident services. Based in the vibrant northeast Sacramento area near Hillsdale, CA, Apartment Life commits to creating safe, welcoming, and engaging environments that promote social connections, well-being, and empowerment among residents. Recognizing the vital role that shared spaces and programming play in fostering a sense of community, Apartment Life partners with corporate, nonprofit, and government entities to create dynamic opportunities for residents of all ages and backgrounds.
The part-time role of Events and Ministry Coordinator—also titled Coordinator of Resident Services—is a key position within Apartment Life’s team, charged with the vital responsibility of implementing and managing community programming that meets the distinct needs of two apartment communities in northeast Sacramento. This position requires approximately 32 hours per month, focused largely during after-school hours and occasional evenings or weekends, to accommodate residents’ availability. The role offers an hourly wage ranging between $21 and $23, reflecting the specialized skills and commitment involved.
Key responsibilities include planning and orchestrating resident-oriented events such as Kid’s Clubs held twice weekly at two separate communities, facilitating fresh food markets at least once per month, and initiating a variety of social, wellness, educational, and enrichment activities designed to elevate community engagement and resident well-being. The Coordinator will work closely with their supervisor to develop and maintain a monthly schedule aligning with broader Apartment Life goals and community needs. Strong communication and collaboration with onsite staff, partners, and residents are critical elements of success in this role.
This position requires someone with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks smoothly, ensuring that all programming and events are executed flawlessly. The Coordinator also plays an essential role in promoting access to resources such as rental, food, and other assistance programs, thereby contributing to the stability and improvement of resident lives. Regular reporting on activities and outcomes is a vital component of the role, providing feedback and evidence of impact to Apartment Life’s leadership.
In addition to operational excellence, the role demands a warm, approachable, and empathetic demeanor, capable of building rapport with a diverse resident population, including families and adults from various socio-economic backgrounds. This is a role for someone passionate about social impact, community service, and creating environments where residents feel supported, informed, and empowered. Being physically able to perform duties involving mobility, setup, and light lifting is necessary due to the hands-on nature of event coordination.
This part-time, paid role presents a meaningful opportunity for individuals who thrive in community-centric roles and are committed to driving positive social change at the grassroots level. Ideal candidates will bring relevant academic or experiential backgrounds in event planning, social services, or community engagement, alongside exceptional communication skills and a readiness to work flexible hours that include evenings and weekends. Preference is given to candidates with bilingual Spanish skills and experience working with at-risk populations, though these are not mandatory.
Apartment Life offers not only a fulfilling work environment but also the chance to make a tangible difference in the daily lives of apartment residents. Candidates interested in applying are encouraged to review the job qualifications thoroughly and consider their fit for this rewarding position that blends event coordination with meaningful community ministry and resident support.
