Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in event planning, arts, history, cultural studies, or related field
- two years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, cultural arts programming, or community engagement
- First-Aid/CPR/AED Certification required or ability to obtain within six months
- valid Florida Driver’s License
- ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Event Planning, Arts, History, Cultural Studies, or related field
- two years progressively responsible experience in event planning, cultural arts programming, or community engagement
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- experience in staff supervision
- proficiency in business English and professional correspondence
- knowledge of budget development and administration
- ability to use standard office software including word processors, spreadsheets, and databases
- strong customer relations skills
- knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations
- ability to prepare reports and manage records
- strong organizational and time management skills
- ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Assist with and manage all aspects of event planning including activity development, publication, advertisement coordination, and entertainment selection
- serve as liaison to artists, Historical Society members, committee members, citizens, and organizations
- create socially engaging cultural programs such as pop-up art or history walks
- promote cultural, historical, and art events and coordinate public art installations, displays, and signage
- solicit and secure donations, sponsorships, and citizen involvement
- negotiate with and process vendors and performers according to city policies
- collaborate with city departments to ensure code and ordinance compliance
- assist in developing and implementing departmental goals, policies, and procedures
- recruit committee members, facilitate discussions, and ensure adherence to event vision
- research, prepare, and distribute reports, notices, and correspondence
- provide professional customer service and respond to inquiries and issues
- manage special events budgets and ensure projects remain within limits
- communicate with city personnel, department heads, public agencies, and the public
- recruit and manage volunteers
- perform related duties as assigned
