Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in event coordination or volunteer management preferred
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Canva
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work as a team player and independently
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure
- Ability to drive and travel locally
- Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid work authorization in the United States
- Must be detail oriented and demonstrate professionalism
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge/understanding of working with various ages demographics from youth - senior
- Must have computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Canva and other computer software as needed

Job Duties
- Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator – Special Events, the Event Specialist assists in the coordination and implementation of events produced by the Parks & Recreation Department
- Events will require planning, marketing, and onsite event production
- The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for administering the recruitment, retention, review, and recognition of volunteers for special events
- The Event Specialist must be able to work weekends, and evenings, and have a flexible full-time schedule
- This position works under general supervision and adheres to the directions of city policy and the Recreation Coordinator-Special Events
- Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator – Special Events, assist in the event planning for annual events including selecting entertainment, scheduling vendors, and creating production timelines as necessary
- Prepare and distribute event marketing materials and volunteer recruitment promotion including designing website updates, social media images, printed flyers and/or banners
- Manage onsite logistics of various department events from set-up to clean-up to ensure successful execution of event production that includes engagement with vendors, entertainers, sponsors, subcontractors, city staff, volunteers and the local community
- Conducts interviews and background checks to match volunteers to special events,Assist as a backup receptionist and telephone console operator, receiving and transferring incoming calls, taking registration information, and providing general department information as required to support park and recreation programs and facilities
- Knowledge/understanding of the recruitment & selection of volunteers which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work
- Knowledge/understanding of event planning
