Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, hospitality, business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of experience planning multifaceted events including supervision of event equipment installation and strike
  • Experience in creating event budgets and estimates
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event management principles
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends and on short notice
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and out-of-state
  • Strong organizational, planning and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, hospitality, business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of experience planning multifaceted events
  • Experience supervising installation and strike of event equipment and structures
  • Experience creating event estimates and budgets
  • Knowledge of event management principles
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel locally and out-of-state if required
  • Experience in a university or corporate environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize and implement Development and Alumni Affairs events, presidential and institutional events, and other university events as assigned
  • Manage event client compliance with contract and budgetary requirements
  • Develop event plans, schedules, and budgets, estimate resources, and manage changes in event scope
  • Provide onsite coordination and supervision of event production
  • Communicate effectively with clients, team members and stakeholders to manage expectations and resolve conflicts
  • Network and negotiate with campus service providers and off-campus vendors
  • Maintain and update event documentation including financial reviews, production schedules, and cost summaries
  • Provide office assistance including handling telephone calls and inquiries
  • Assist in the development of departmental strategic plans and performance metrics
  • Perform other duties as assigned
