Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and transport heavy items
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Prior experience in event setup or maintenance is desirable
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, operation of maintenance equipment including gators, floor cleaners, leaf blowers, manual tools, and trucks/trailers
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work with a diverse group of visitors and coworkers
- Ability to communicate and work productively with Windmill Island Gardens staff and visitors
- Two years of experience in assisting with event coordination for programs, weddings, receptions, and facility rental events is preferred
- Mental ability to handle pressures related to managing multiple tasks
- Physical ability to lift/push/pull/transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
Job Duties
- Primary responsibility for setup and takedown for weddings and events held at Windmill Island Gardens alongside additional programs and event staff
- Transports, cleans, and sets up necessary furniture
- Provides general upkeep of event structures including cleaning inside and outside spaces, and executing light maintenance such as floor scrubbing and power washing
- Attends and supervises programs, weddings, receptions and facility rental events, serves as a representative of Windmill Island Gardens and ensures that programs and events run smoothly
- Assist Programs Coordinator in program preparations and execution
- Responds to event concerns and questions from clients, with help from Windmill Island Gardens Manager, Programs Coordinator, and Event Specialist if needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
