Job Requirements

  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of event venues, including food and beverage areas
  • Requires mobility, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Must tolerate varying levels of stress, temperature, illumination, air quality and fatigue
  • Heavy customer contact required
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 2+ years of off-premises or venue-based catering management experience
  • Managerial experience with service staff
  • Strong understanding of diverse cuisine and beverage
  • Wine, beer and spirits knowledge
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Toast POS and Tripleseat preferred)
  • SMART Certification
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Certificate
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and lead teams effectively
  • Capacity to handle high-stress environments with professionalism

Job Duties

  • Work in collaboration with event management and culinary team to plan for successful event execution
  • Understand and follow specific event instructions including menus, set-up lists, banquet event orders (BEO), contracts, room diagrams
  • Attend Banquet Event Order meetings
  • Coordinate with Human Resources Manager to seek and hire team members for event staffing needs
  • Schedule and coordinate staffing needs for event execution, including set-up of the venue
  • Develop and provide team members with the necessary training, including customer service and serving etiquette
  • Coordinate all aspects of the venue set-up, including Audio/Visual and Food and Beverage needs
  • Direct pre-shift lineups with event staff and kitchen personnel
  • Supervise event service, inclusive of captains, servers, bartenders, and support staff by being present and active on floor throughout the shift, overseeing and assisting team members
  • Ensure all side work is assigned properly and completed
  • Review cleanliness of event spaces and equipment at the close of each event
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures including report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions
  • Prepare a Captains report after each event to summarize service details, needed inventory items, successes, and areas of improvement
  • Serve as closing manager for events, being the last touch of contact for clients
  • Relay any policy or operational changes to team members and guide them in adjusting
  • Ensure all applicable safety regulations are communicated and adhered to
  • Deliver genuine hospitality in all aspects of work to clients, co-workers, and vendors
  • Direct all efforts toward guest satisfaction, maintenance of company standards, and revenue generation
  • Work within and hold others accountable to company’s Core Values
  • Must be available on evenings and weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned
