Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • minimum of four-year college degree preferred
  • experience in a luxury hotel/resort environment
  • minimum of 2 years as department head leading a team
  • minimum of 2 years catering sales experience
  • minimum of 2 years event planning experience
  • strong organizational skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • significant food and beverage knowledge
  • proficiency in Delphi, Excel, and Word
  • ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • flexible schedule to meet business needs
  • ability to travel within designated markets
  • ability to prepare complex reports
  • leadership ability.

Job Duties

  • Successfully, innovatively, and timely implement commercial strategic initiatives and monitor for best-in-class results
  • collaborate with operations to drive innovation and creativity within event delivery
  • partner with the director of events, DOSM, and operations to deliver high-impact event experiences
  • ensure that high quality service standards are maintained through continuous reviews of processes and procedures
  • plan, up-sell and detail the meeting/function with the client including space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, and prepare and complete appropriate paperwork
  • coordinate with appropriate hotel departments to resolve customer requests and ensure quality product delivery
  • gather, organize and disseminate client event requirements to hotel departments and clients accurately and professionally
  • visually inspect all meeting rooms and public spaces, coordinating with banquet captain to ensure conformity with BEOs
  • maximize revenues and control expenses through effective negotiation, accurate forecasting and room block management
  • uphold and manage the terms and conditions outlined in group, catering, and event contracts
  • assist in designing and developing improved standard operating procedures for consistent training and accountability
  • provide input and execute the catering and events portion of the hotel’s business plan
  • develop target lists and action plans for account solicitation
  • service major accounts including high-end VIP groups and off-premises events
  • act as liaison between clients and all hotel departments
  • assist with market studies to support pricing strategies and update menus to improve profitability and creativity
  • demonstrate positive leadership to inspire and empower team members
  • integrate current trends in event management and design
  • participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process
  • maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • perform other duties as assigned.
