Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • previous experience in catering sales, event planning, or hospitality management, with a strong understanding of catering operations and customer service
  • excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • strong organizational and project management abilities, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • knowledge of food and beverage trends, menu planning, and culinary techniques
  • familiarity with catering software, POS systems, and event management tools
  • ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required

Job Duties

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to generate catering sales through marketing efforts, networking, and relationship building
  • meet with potential clients to understand their catering needs, preferences, and budgetary requirements
  • prepare and present catering proposals, menus, and pricing quotes to clients, negotiating terms and finalizing contracts
  • work closely with clients to plan and coordinate all aspects of catering events, including menu selection, venue setup, decor, and entertainment
  • coordinate with internal departments, such as culinary, operations, and logistics, to ensure seamless execution of events
  • create detailed event timelines, production schedules, and floor plans to guide staff and vendors during setup, service, and breakdown
  • recruit, hire, train, and supervise catering staff, including servers, bartenders, chefs, and event coordinators
  • provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities to ensure staff members are skilled, motivated, and aligned with the company’s objectives
  • schedule staff assignments, manage labor costs, and maintain adequate staffing levels to meet event demands
  • cultivate positive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded throughout the catering process
  • communicate effectively with clients to address any questions, concerns, or changes to event plans promptly and professionally
  • provide personalized service and attention to detail to enhance the overall customer experience and earn repeat business and referrals
  • develop and manage catering budgets, forecasts, and financial goals, striving to achieve revenue targets and maximize profitability
  • monitor catering sales performance, track expenses, and analyze financial reports to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth
  • implement pricing strategies, promotions, and upselling techniques to drive sales and enhance profitability
  • ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements related to food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service
  • maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service, conducting regular inspections and audits to uphold company and industry standards
  • address any issues or concerns related to food safety, sanitation, or service quality promptly and effectively
