Job Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 3-5 years of experience in event management
  • strong communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • valid drivers license or ability to obtain one
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • leadership and supervisory skills

  • knowledge of safety and crowd control
  • experience in budgeting and contract familiarity

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in event management in stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly setting
  • bachelor’s degree in facility management, hospitality management, business or related field
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, word processing, and Internet
  • possession or ability to obtain valid drivers license
  • knowledge of event operational characteristics
  • ability to identify facility user needs
  • knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
  • knowledge of customer service practices
  • knowledge of supervision, scheduling, and training principles
  • familiarity with facility use contracts
  • knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
  • knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems
  • experience with budget preparation and control
  • familiarity with entertainment and public assembly terminology
  • AutoCAD experience preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Advance, plan, service, and supervise all events
  • plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • provide leadership and guidance for event personnel
  • analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations
  • communicate clearly and concisely in English both orally and in writing
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees, clients, co-workers, part-time staff, contractors, patrons, and public officials
  • work a flexible schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • complete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork
  • assist in the preparation of building to meet event requirements
  • assist with completion of pre-show financial estimates and post-show event settlements
  • advise lessees on contractor services
  • recruit, train, and supervise event and security staff
  • create work schedules and delegate assignments
  • function as liaison between facility users and staff
  • recommend and evaluate required staffing levels
  • coordinate communication during load in and load out
  • investigate and resolve event-related complaints
  • maintain event and security equipment
  • make hospitality arrangements
  • communicate with municipal police, fire and medical services
  • review emergency planning procedures
  • create and distribute event data sheets
  • prepare and approve bi-weekly payroll
  • coordinate service needs with Food and Beverage provider
  • serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
  • perform other duties as assigned
