Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • one to three years of experience in event management in stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility
  • strong communication skills
  • strong computer skills
  • valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • knowledge of crowd management and customer service
  • ability to supervise and train staff
  • knowledge of public safety regulations
  • ability to analyze and resolve event issues
  • experience with budget handling

Job Qualifications

  • One to three years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility
  • bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, word processing, and internet
  • possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license
  • knowledge of operational characteristics of events
  • ability to identify facility user needs
  • knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
  • knowledge of customer service practices
  • knowledge of principles of supervision, scheduling, and training employees
  • familiarity with facility use contracts
  • knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
  • knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems
  • experience with budget preparation and control
  • familiarity with entertainment, convention, and public assembly terminology
  • experience with AutoCAD preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Advance, plan, service, and supervise all events
  • plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • provide leadership and guidance for event personnel
  • analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations
  • communicate clearly and concisely in English
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees, clients, co-workers, staff, contractors, and officials
  • work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • complete all duties with a customer service focus
  • assist in preparing building for upcoming events
  • assist with pre-show financial estimates and post-show settlements
  • advise lessees on contractor services
  • recruit, train, and supervise event and security staff
  • create work schedules and delegate assignments
  • liaise between facility users and staff
  • recommend and evaluate event staffing levels
  • coordinate communication during load in and load out
  • investigate and resolve event-related complaints
  • maintain event staff equipment
  • make hospitality arrangements
  • communicate with municipal officials to ensure event security
  • review emergency planning procedures
  • create and distribute detailed event data sheets
  • prepare and approve bi-weekly payroll
  • coordinate food and beverage service needs
  • serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
  • perform other assigned duties
