Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- one to three years of progressively responsible experience in event management
- strong communication skills
- computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
- valid driver's license or ability to obtain
- knowledge of event operational characteristics
- ability to identify users' needs
- knowledge of crowd management techniques
- knowledge of customer service practices
- knowledge of supervision principles
- familiarity with facility contracts
- knowledge of public safety regulations
- knowledge of A/V equipment
- experience with budget control
- familiarity with entertainment terminology
- flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- One to three years of responsible event management experience in stadium, arena, convention center, or public assembly facilities
- bachelor's degree in facility management, hospitality, business, or related field
- strong oral and written communication skills
- proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications
- valid driver's license or ability to obtain one
- understanding of event operations
- knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
- knowledge of customer service practices
- ability to supervise, schedule, and train employees
- familiarity with facility use contracts
- knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
- understanding of audio/visual equipment in public assembly settings
- experience with budget preparation and control
- familiarity with entertainment and convention terminology
- AutoCAD experience preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Advance, plan, service, and supervise all events
- plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates
- provide leadership and guidance for event personnel
- analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations
- communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees, clients, staff, contractors, patrons, and municipal officials
- work a flexible schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- complete all duties with a customer service focus
- assist in the preparation of the building for events
- assist with pre-show financial estimates
- assist with post-show event settlements
- advise lessees on independent contractor services
- recruit, train, and supervise event and security staff
- create work schedules and delegate assignments
- function as a liaison between facility users and staff
- recommend and evaluate event staffing levels
- coordinate communication during load-in and load-out
- investigate and resolve event-related complaints
- maintain event and security equipment
- make hospitality arrangements
- communicate with municipal officials to ensure security
- review emergency planning procedures
- create and distribute event data sheets
- prepare and approve bi-weekly payroll
- coordinate food and beverage service needs
- serve as Manager on Duty
- perform other duties as assigned
