The DoubleTree by Hilton Abilene Downtown Convention Center is a newly opened premium hotel property located in the heart of Abilene. Opened in 2023, this state-of-the-art hotel features 200 comfortable guestrooms and an extensive 23,021 total square feet of meeting and event space, including its largest ballroom spanning 12,100 square feet. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience in hotel event management
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • excellent organizational and planning skills
  • strong communication skills
  • customer service orientation
  • ability to multitask and manage multiple events
  • proficiency in event planning software or systems
  • ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of event management experience at a hotel of similar or larger size
  • strong understanding of hotel catering and client event planning
  • proficiency with banquet event order (BEO) process
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • problem-solving and negotiation expertise
  • sales and upselling skills
  • knowledge of hotel systems and event coordination processes

Job Duties

  • Organize, plan and prioritize duties by developing plans and goals
  • timely communication to internal and external clients via telephone, email, written documents or in person
  • create and maintain relationships with clients to set and meet client expectations
  • demonstrate knowledge of job systems, products, systems, and processes
  • resolve conflicts and negotiate with others while handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances
  • sell and influence both internal and external clients
  • make decisions and solve problems by analyzing issues and determining the best solution
  • ensure high-quality service by providing direction, guidance, feedback and individual coaching
  • participate in customer site inspections and assist with sales process
  • perform other duties as necessary based on business needs
