Job Qualifications
- Two- or four-year degree from a college or university or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of food service styles including ethnic weddings and butler-style service
- Familiarity with menu development and food and beverage cost control
- Proficiency in Word and Excel software programs
- Experience with Marriott's sales and inventory management system (CI/TY)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Prior hospitality industry experience in hotels or event management
- Strong computer skills including typing and technical troubleshooting
Job Duties
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of event operations
- Assist in facilitating smooth turnover from sales to service and back to sales
- Serve as liaison between sales, operational departments, and customers
- Conduct planning site visits and inspections with customers
- Collaborate with culinary teams to accommodate dietary restrictions
- Manage group room blocks and communicate trends with group housing
- Prepare and generate event documentation such as floor plans, banquet event orders, and contracts
- Coordinate departments' participation in servicing accounts
- Lead menu tastings and pre-event and post-event meetings
- Ensure billing policies and procedures are upheld and review meeting planner evaluations with sales team
- Respond promptly to client needs, trends, issues, and feedback
- Create unique VIP experiences and manage customer expectations throughout event lifecycle
- Follow established procedures and collaborate for operational success
- Communicate updates and maintain event information in sales management system
