Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree and four years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years
  • successful completion of a criminal history background check
  • occasional work outside of normal business hours

Job Duties

  • research develop and execute events that align with the goals of the Institute for Governance and Civics
  • engage and coordinate with vendors to support events
  • lead and manage the entire event planning process including tracking and managing event-related expenditures and assigning resources
  • monitor and record event participation and maintain the event calendar
  • collaborate with partners to facilitate event registration
  • organize travel lodging and local transportation for speakers
  • coordinate speaker dinners and related engagements
  • oversee intern involvement in event operations
  • provide on-site event management and support
  • work with university stakeholders to secure event venues and procure materials such as speaker gifts
  • negotiate contracts for IGC speakers
  • monitor and control event budgets
  • represent the Institute for Governance and Civics on multiple work groups and teams
  • work closely with undergraduate and graduate student interns through assignment of event-related duties and preparations
  • support other IGC activities and operations as assigned
  • design and produce visual assets including flyers and promotional graphics to support event marketing efforts
