The Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center (MACST) is a premier convention and event venue located in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina. Operated under the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports & Tourism, this state-of-the-art facility serves as a hub for regional conventions, trade shows, sports events, and tourism activities. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 3-5 years of event management experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible schedule with availability for evenings and weekends
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible event management experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of convention industry software preferred
  • Self-directed and motivated team player with positive outlook

Job Duties

  • Plan events including client tours and advising on equipment and personnel required
  • Prepare final event settlement paperwork and review with clients
  • Generate and distribute work orders and diagrams to internal departments and third-party vendors
  • Ensure event setups meet client instructions and agreements
  • Manage events onsite including communication and client assistance
  • Conduct planning, staff, and operational meetings for event smooth production
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and coordinate logistics with community officials
  • Participate in new program implementation and overall events department development
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as needed during schedule-based shifts
