Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years experience in event management or related field
- Or bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
- 1 year experience in event management
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency with event management software
- Ability to work full time
- Authorized to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3 years in event management or related professional area
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 1 year experience in event management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with event management software
- Ability to multitask and coordinate with multiple departments
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
- Customer service orientation
- Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality or convention environment
Job Duties
- Manages the execution of all aspects of events including planning, day to day coordination, and exit strategies
- Serves as meeting planning advocate and liaison to all operational departments
- Coordinates all convention group plans and catering needs with required departments
- Verifies on-site delivery of hotel products and services according to conference group plans
- Utilizes software to generate necessary program documents such as pass on reports, banquet event orders, post-convention reports, and change logs
- Advises clients on current status of events and coordinates any necessary changes
- Maintains program knowledge by attending planning meetings, conference calls, and reviewing group materials beforehand
- Partners with conference planning team to identify and resolve issues
- Attends planning visits, welcome receptions, tie-down meetings, and other related internal meetings
- Proactively resolves potential meeting or room set issues
- Uses available resources to meet client requests and resolve issues
- Verifies room requirements such as lighting, temperature, AV equipment, and room setup meet client expectations
- Delivers excellent customer service and encourages similar behavior from other employees
- Coordinates and communicates event details verbally and in writing
- Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
- Uses judgment and expertise to enhance client experience
- Remains available to resolve problems and suggest alternatives
- Integrates feedback and judgment into actionable customer service improvements
