Job Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months to 2 years relevant professional experience on a technical theatre crew
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts including some evenings and weekends
  • Must wear all black clothing including Naropa Crew T-Shirt
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, handle/finger, bend at the waist, reach above shoulder level, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Willingness to participate in an inclusive community and professional development
  • Ability to respond timely to emails
  • Safety-conscious and able to follow guidelines for using scaffolding and mast lifts
  • Appreciation for and alignment with Naropa University’s values

Job Qualifications

  • 6 months to 2 years experience on a technical theatre crew
  • Familiarity with computers
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends occasionally
  • Professional attitude including punctuality, dependability, ingenuity, teamwork, and honesty
  • Good attitude and sense of humor
  • Ability to co-create an inclusive community and participate in professional development
  • Ability to receive and respond to emails in a timely manner
  • Understanding and appreciation of Naropa University’s values demonstrated in workplace behavior
  • Preferred experience in stage management, light design, sound board operation, video recording, and editing

Job Duties

  • Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally
  • Assist or manage stage set up, room set up, backstage, green room, program timing, stage equipment, media projection
  • Assist with properly and safely hanging and setting up lighting instruments, rigging, pipes, and cables
  • Circuit and test electrical equipment, including dimmer packs, lights, and other equipment
  • Properly set up A/V equipment
  • Assemble and disassemble scaffolding and use mast lift within safety guidelines
  • Attend trainings, crew meetings, and interviews related to events and performances
  • Assist with transitions during shows such as microphone adjustments and setup changes
  • Manage front of house operations including box office setup, ticket sales, and sales reconciliation
  • Provide customer service and assist attendees with questions
  • Support hybrid classroom technology as needed
  • Lead sound checks with performers and speakers
  • Execute all sound cues under supervision of Stage Manager
  • Program, record, and execute light cues
  • Assist with light hang and focus, update lighting plot, and set up cue sheets
  • Perform light construction duties occasionally using power tools
  • Work on load-ins, hang and focus, sound checks, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, concerts, readings, seminars, and community events as needed
