Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, public administration, business administration, or a related field
  • two years of related work experience as a special event coordinator
  • any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered
  • complete a post-offer medical examination and background investigation
  • comply with all county safety guidelines
  • position is safety-sensitive and subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
  • complete all required FEMA training as assigned
  • complete mandatory supervisor training if applicable
  • possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license
  • ability to work evenings and weekends
  • ability to handle sensitive or confidential records while maintaining confidentiality

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • two years of related work experience as a special event coordinator
  • ability to build and maintain vendor relationships
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • proficiency with scheduling and event management
  • ability to lead and train staff
  • experience working with community organizations
  • knowledge of permit and licensing requirements
  • teamwork and interpersonal skills, ability to work evenings and weekends as required

Job Duties

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and oversee county sports events, leagues, and fitness programs
  • train section staff on principles and history of sports and fitness, including league scheduling and tournament operations
  • maintain the master schedule for PROS outdoor facility use and monitor facility use agreements
  • serve on the Bernalillo County Youth Sports Commission
  • support the Bernalillo County Special Event Review Committee and act as liaison for public/private functions
  • lead coordination of special projects and events at county facilities, including vendor management and compliance review
  • work onsite during events to manage logistics and conduct post-event evaluations
