Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- two years of related work experience as a special event coordinator
- complete a post-offer medical examination and background investigation
- comply with all County safety guidelines
- willingness to undergo pre-employment and random drug testing
- complete all required FEMA training
- complete mandatory supervisor training if applicable
- possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license
- ability to work evenings and weekends as required
- handle sensitive or confidential information responsibly
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- two years of related work experience as a special event coordinator
- strong organizational and project management skills
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- knowledge of event permit, licensing, and insurance requirements
- proficiency in maintaining databases and event scheduling
- experience in vendor recruitment and management
- demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- capability to work evenings and weekends as required
- valid New Mexico driver's license
Job Duties
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and oversee County sports events, leagues, and fitness programs
- recommend new offerings and improvements to existing programs
- train section staff on principles and history of sports and fitness, including league scheduling and tournament operations
- maintain the master schedule for PROS outdoor facility use and monitor related facility use agreements
- serve on the Bernalillo County Youth Sports Commission
- serve and support the Bernalillo County Special Event Review Committee and act as liaison for public/private functions
- serve as lead coordinator on special projects and events at County facilities
- recruit and manage event vendors and ensure compliance with permits, licenses, and insurance requirements
- work on-site during events to coordinate logistics, set-up, load-in, cleanup, and tear-down
- conduct post-event evaluations to improve future events
- create and distribute public information about programs, facilities, and activities
- consult with departments on event planning including budgeting and historical background
- supervise and provide leadership on assigned special event projects
- build and maintain partnerships with outside organizations
- attend other events for outreach, networking, and research
- verify and approve contractual payroll based on game reports
- prepare and present monthly departmental reports
- work evenings and weekends as required
- handle sensitive or confidential records while maintaining confidentiality
