Job Requirements

  • Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations
  • Working knowledge of and/or can quickly learn the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure
  • Working organizational skills, including coordination of multiple details
  • Excellent calendar management and scheduling skills
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen
  • Judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to work professionally under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with diverse groups including students, staff, faculty, and public
  • Ability to represent the campus effectively to its publics

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience/training
  • Working knowledge of event planning and production concepts and practices
  • Ability to work professionally under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective decision-making and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to work in diverse groups including students, staff, faculty, and external partners
  • Strong organizational and calendar management abilities

Job Duties

  • Plans, organizes and implements small events or portions of larger events such as symposiums, conferences, program events, banquets, and VIP briefings
  • Participates in planning, organizing and staffing larger or more complex events, including responsibility for specific event segments such as parking/transportation, catering, etc
  • Manages small events
  • Scouts potential locations and/or vendors for future events
  • Oversees operational support staff
  • Coordinates logistics and ensures smooth execution of events
  • Provides excellent customer service support during events
