Job Requirements
- Must possess or obtain within 14 days of hire and maintain a valid Florida driver's license
- Must complete a Crowd Control Certification within nine months of hire
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to attend meetings, events, professional networking and trainings outside of standard business hours including nights and weekends
- Ability to exert light physical effort including lifting, carrying or moving objects up to 50 pounds
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality and tactfulness
- Ability to operate a computer and related communication programs
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, events management, business or marketing management or related field and two years of event experience
- Associate's degree in hospitality management, events management, business or marketing management or related field and four years of event experience
- High school diploma or equivalency and six years of event experience
- Crowd control certification
- Experience working in a municipality or government organization
- Effective communication skills both orally and in writing
- Ability to prepare accurate written records and reports
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Job Duties
- Assist with executing a variety of indoor and outdoor events including concerts, parades, movie nights, ribbon cuttings, provide support to the division in fulfilling the City's schedule of events and objectives, support events staff with message outreach to businesses, residents, visitors and community groups, represent the division at events and community meetings, organize and distribute event marketing materials, oversee, recruit and train volunteers, recruit, schedule and coordinate non-profits, businesses, artists and vendors to participate in events, maintain event supplies and equipment and updated inventory list, maintain the division's electronic and paper records, assist with Centennial Park and Amphitheater rentals, oversee departmental assistance with events, produce and distribute logistics memos, oversee vendor load in/out at events, oversee vendor communication prior to events
