Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is a prominent animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the community by strengthening the human-animal bond. Job Requirements

  • Four years of experience planning and coordinating community events and/or outreach campaigns
  • high school diploma or GED
  • postsecondary education may substitute for two years of experience
  • ability to drive large vehicles (29 and 31 feet)
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire
  • flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to work independently at events
  • ability to handle animals with unknown temperament
  • standing and walking on uneven surfaces
  • willingness to work outdoors in extreme heat

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • four years of experience planning and coordinating community events and/or outreach campaigns
  • postsecondary education may substitute for two years of required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • experience working in a veterinary clinic and humane society valued
  • experience driving large vehicles (29 and 31 feet) valued
  • bilingual in Spanish and English valued

Job Duties

  • Manages the full offsite event schedule
  • coordinates all logistics and activities for off-site adoption events
  • staffs program-associated adoption events
  • coordinates with local schools, churches, and community centers to host vaccine and spay/neuter clinics
  • schedules needed services
  • selects appropriate animals for events based on temperament and health
  • ensures humane animal handling and sanitation at events
  • develops, writes, and summarizes reports to track program success
  • develops program materials for data collection and distribution
  • contacts community members to assess spay/neuter needs
  • compiles data to assess outreach needs
  • maintains program inventory including collars, leashes, vaccines, and medical supplies
  • conducts community assessments using shelter software to identify outreach priorities
