Job Requirements

  • Four years of experience planning and coordinating community events and/or outreach campaigns to raise awareness of specific programs
  • high school diploma or GED
  • postsecondary education may substitute for two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • ability to drive large vehicles measuring up to 29 and 31 feet
  • ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to work independently
  • ability to handle dogs and cats with unknown temperament or behavior
  • willingness to work outdoors in extreme heat

Job Qualifications

  • Four years of experience planning and coordinating community events and/or outreach campaigns to raise awareness of specific programs
  • high school diploma or GED
  • postsecondary education may substitute for two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • experience working in a veterinary clinic and a humane society is valued
  • experience driving large vehicles is valued
  • bilingual in Spanish and English is valued

Job Duties

  • Manages the full offsite event schedule, coordinates all logistics and activities for off-site adoption events, and staffs program-associated adoption events
  • coordinates with local schools, churches, and community centers to host vaccine and spay/neuter clinics and schedules needed services
  • selects appropriate animals for program-associated events based on temperament and health and takes responsibility for their health and welfare at the event including humane animal handling and sanitation
  • develops, writes, and summarizes reports to track program success for management at regularly scheduled intervals
  • develops program materials for data collection and information distribution in the community
  • contacts community members to determine their spay and neuter needs
  • compiles data results to assess needs for further outreach efforts
  • maintains program inventory including collars, leashes, vaccines, microchips, chip scanner, treats, flea and tick medicine
  • conducts community assessments via data from shelter software to determine "hot spots" where most of the unsterilized stray pets originate for outreach efforts
