Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary training preferred
  • At least three years experience in catering, events or banquet kitchens
  • Experience leading culinary teams at large-scale events
  • Food safety certification such as ServSafe or local equivalent
  • Strong menu development and cost control skills
  • Valid driver's license if travel or transporting equipment is required

  • Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergen management including gluten-free, vegan, kosher and halal
  • Familiarity with on-site mobile kitchen equipment and staging
  • Basic budgeting and inventory software familiarity such as Kitchen CUT, MarketMan or Excel

Job Duties

  • Create seasonal, costed menus aligned with client needs, dietary restrictions and event themes
  • Consult with clients and event planners to finalize menu, service style, timelines and special requests
  • Oversee all food preparation, plating, finishing and quality control on event days
  • Recruit, train and supervise culinary staff, assign stations and manage on-site kitchen flow
  • Manage food inventory, place orders, control food cost and minimize waste
  • Plan for and coordinate equipment, transport, on-site setup and breakdown
  • Enforce hygiene, allergen protocols and local health regulations and maintain food safety certifications
  • Prepare quotes, control labor and food costs, and report on event profitability
  • Adapt menus and workflows in real time to address last-minute changes or issues
  • Oversee clean-up, equipment return, and post-event feedback collection
