Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in event management, business, sociology, public planning and policy, broadcasting, performing arts, technical theater, fine arts (acting, musical theater, design and production), marketing, hospitality management, public relations, communications, psychology, or a related field
  • minimum of three years of directly related work experience in event planning and execution
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • must pass background check and enroll in RAP Back program
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors in potentially noisy environments
  • may work more than 40 hours per week including weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • physical ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • flexible work schedule
  • willingness to travel for meetings or training

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, business, sociology, public planning, broadcasting, performing arts, technical theater, fine arts, marketing, hospitality management, public relations, communications, psychology, or a related field
  • minimum three years of experience in event planning and execution
  • excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • proficiency in computer software relevant to the role
  • social media experience for promotional purposes
  • ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • capability to handle difficult situations tactfully and professionally
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • knowledge of event planning methods and contract negotiation practices

Job Duties

  • Plans, organizes and coordinates details of events and activities at the Eccles Theater
  • conducts facility tours and site inspections
  • cultivates and maintains professional relationships with clients, artists, presenting partners, and destination management organizations
  • develops and implements tactics to engage new arts organizations and revenue-generating bookings
  • builds relationships and contracts to develop specialized series offerings for key site spaces
  • identifies and develops pipelines and relationships to generate revenue through bookings for meetings, conventions, filming, and live streaming
  • responds to inquiries about scheduling rooms and event spaces
  • meets with clients to discuss setup options and calculates cost estimates
  • negotiates and finalizes rental contracts and manages event deposits and payments
  • acts as primary contact with clients and coordinates all event details with internal teams
  • partners with marketing to promote and publicize Eccles events
  • arranges for last-minute event adjustments and resolves issues
  • monitors events to ensure compliance with contracts and safety requirements
  • maintains database of events, contacts, and authorized caterers
  • prepares financial, statistical, and administrative reports
