Job Requirements
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- secondary school education or equivalent
- one to three months of experience in cleaning or janitorial work
- physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- effective interpersonal communication skills
- availability to work the assigned day shift schedule including alternating weekends
- willingness to adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment
- reliable transportation to work location is not required
- ability to work in a healthcare environment with adherence to infection control standards
- willing to perform physically demanding tasks including moving furniture and operating power equipment
Job Qualifications
- Secondary school education or equivalent
- one to three months of experience performing cleaning duties
- ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- effective interpersonal communication skills
- physical capability to lift up to 25 pounds
- knowledge of safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment
- ability to operate power cleaning equipment
- understanding of hospital cleaning protocols

Job Duties
- Assembles materials and supplies from supply rooms
- stocks service carts
- transports supplies to assigned work area
- performs daily cleaning and supplying of the area as defined on the floor schedule
- returns unused supplies to supply room at end of shift
- cleans and properly stores equipment used
- prepares cleaning solutions
- dusts windowsills, blinds, furniture, and other items
- empties and cleans wastebaskets
- dry mops floors
- cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms, offices, and patient rooms
- cleans showers and toilets
- damp dusts or vacuums chairs and other items
- makes beds with clean linens
- performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms
- assists in cleaning emergency spills upon request
- vacuums rugs and carpets
- washes walls and ceilings
- cleans lighting fixtures, tops of windows, and doorframes
- hangs and changes bedside curtains and drapes
- moves furniture to clean areas, notifying supervisor when assistance is necessary
- transports trash and linen to designated areas
- compacts trash according to hospital procedures
- packs infectious waste as needed
- maintains assigned equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition
- reports necessary repairs to supervisor
- performs duties in accordance with hospital procedures during fire or disaster
- performs heavy duty cleaning functions
- operates power equipment when needed
- transports furniture and equipment according to department policies
- performs other duties as assigned
