Job Requirements
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- completion of secondary school education level
- one to three months of experience to proficiently perform all basic duties
- physical ability to perform required tasks including lifting up to 25 pounds
- ability to work in a healthcare environment following established safety procedures and use of PPE
- availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with alternating weekend shifts
- willingness to undergo necessary training and comply with hospital policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- effective interpersonal communication skills
- prior experience in healthcare or janitorial environment preferred but not required
- willingness to perform physically demanding tasks
- ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Assembles materials and supplies from supply rooms
- stock service carts
- transports to assigned work area
- performs daily cleaning and supplying of the area in accordance with established departmental procedures
- returns unused supplies to supply room at the end of shift
- cleans equipment used in performance of duties and stores it properly
- prepares cleaning solutions
- dusts windowsills, blinds, furniture, and other items
- empties and cleans wastebaskets
- dry mops floors
- cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms, offices, and patient rooms
- cleans showers and toilets
- damp dusts or vacuums chairs and other items
- makes beds with clean linens
- performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms
- assists in the cleaning of emergency spills upon request
- vacuums rugs and carpets
- washes walls and ceilings
- cleans lighting fixtures, tops of windows and doorframes
- hangs and changes bedside curtains and drapes
- moves furniture to clean area and notifies supervisor when assistance is necessary
- transports trash and linen to designated areas
- compacts trash following hospital procedures
- packs infectious waste as needed
- maintains assigned equipment and work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition
- reports necessary repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures
- performs duties during fire or internal/community disaster
- performs all heavy duty cleaning functions as required
- operates power equipment as needed
- transports furniture and equipment in accordance with department policies
- performs other duties as assigned
