Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- three years of related experience in road construction or maintenance and equipment operation
- valid state driver’s license with a good driving history
- preferred CDL with endorsements
- physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and vibration
- ability to follow safety protocols and procedures
- reliable attendance
- ability to communicate effectively
- capacity for independent and team work
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- three years of experience in road construction or maintenance with heavy and light equipment operation
- valid state driver's license with a good driving history
- knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance
- familiarity with TMUTCD traffic control procedures
- ability to read and interpret blueprints
- skills in troubleshooting equipment problems
- effective communication and teamwork abilities
- capability to maintain accurate records
- ability to work independently and efficiently
Job Duties
- Drive and operate various heavy equipment including tractors, skid loaders, rollers, excavators, backhoes, and motor graders
- assist or oversee flaggers for traffic monitoring during road repairs
- set out signs and cones to divert traffic according to TMUTCD standards
- maintain records of equipment mileage, servicing, and use
- estimate and recommend project materials
- follow blueprints for compliance on road standards
- maintain accurate daily records of team performance and materials used
- perform general construction and maintenance tasks such as excavation and brush cutting
- conduct pre- and post-inspections of vehicles and equipment
- operate hand tools for various site tasks
- direct traffic at construction sites
- transport materials using various trucks
- assist in road base preparation and clearing drainage ditches
- demonstrate equipment operation techniques to other operators
- assist with pothole repairs and road shoulder reconstruction
- perform other assigned duties
