Job Requirements
- Six months of experience operating light construction and maintenance equipment
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Ability to maintain vehicle insurability
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Capability to perform physical activities including walking, standing, bending, crouching for prolonged periods
- Willingness to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and driving history check
- Completion of a detailed 10-year employment and education history on application
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
- Six months of experience operating light construction and maintenance equipment in parks, cemeteries, horticulture environments, street repair or maintenance, transit operations or related fields
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability
- Preferred safety course completion
- Defensive driving course
- Flagger certification
- Biohazard course completion
- Pesticide applicator license
Job Duties
- Operate light construction power-driven equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, push-mowers, small dump trucks, and solid waste collection vehicles
- Participate in repair and maintenance of city-owned properties including parks, cemeteries, streets, bus shelters, and drainage systems
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, clearing fence lines, seeding, weeding, and minor repairs
- Identify equipment needs for assigned projects and transport, inspect, maintain, and secure equipment
- Maintain records and logs of work performed and conduct basic preventive maintenance on equipment
- Transport construction equipment and materials as required
- Install street barricades and cones, and direct traffic around work sites
- Perform routine repairs to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical fixtures and equipment
