Job Requirements

  • Completed BS degree in Equine Sciences, Animal Science, or related discipline
  • minimum 5 years experience around and handling horses
  • comfortable working around horses with knowledge of basic behavior
  • good attitude and work ethic
  • ability to work both independently and in teams
  • physically able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one by employment start
  • eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • willing to perform night and weekend shifts
  • able to relocate to Fort Collins or nearby area
  • must pass background checks

Job Qualifications

  • Completed BS degree in Equine Sciences, Animal Science, or related discipline
  • at least 5 years of experience handling horses
  • knowledge of basic horse behavior
  • positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • physical capability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one by employment start
  • eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • experience in equine breeding farm settings preferred
  • experience handling stallions, mares, and foals preferred
  • experience administering IV, IM, or oral medications beneficial

Job Duties

  • Provide assistance in the Stallion Service and Mare Service including horse handling
  • perform electronic and manual record keeping
  • administer medications and provide routine medical care
  • restrain horses for farrier and reproductive procedures
  • groom, blanket and turnout horses
  • assist veterinarians in examination of horses and procedures such as semen collection and evaluation, insemination, hormone therapy and embryo transfer
  • monitor late-term pregnant mares and assist during foaling
  • assist with medical care and trailering of horses
  • maintain laboratory cleanliness and equipment
  • assist undergraduate and veterinary students during rotations
  • provide routine care of horses including vaccines and deworming
  • perform evening rounds and secure facilities
