Job Requirements
- high school graduate or equivalency preferred
- previous custodial or cleaning experience desired
- knowledge of cleaning methods, products, and procedures
- skill in use of cleaning equipment and materials
- ability to follow infection control guidelines
- ability to use keys, telephones, and voceras responsibly
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel and diverse patient populations
- ability to perform work using ladders and step stools
- ability to recognize and report safety concerns
- ability to utilize computer equipment and software relevant to job
- ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance

Job Duties
- commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates core values
- sets up, cleans, and returns required cleaning cart and equipment
- cleans assigned area per facility and department procedures and guidelines
- removes trash and soiled linen
- accesses medication rooms without supervision to perform necessary cleaning
- monitors, removes, and replaces sharps containers
- thinks safety, acts safely while performing assigned tasks
- power scrubs and buffs floors
- arranges furniture
- reviews unit’s needs for patient dismissals and transfers
- contains and removes contaminated items
- makes dismissal beds
- relays information appropriately over the telephone and vocera ensuring patient confidentiality
- replenishes required supplies in assigned area
- utilizes computer to document dismissal room cleaning in Epic
- unloads and sorts linen carts
- stocks shelves and monitors linen inventory
- assists with linen ordering process and delivers linen orders
- maintains carts, shelves, and work area in a clean orderly fashion
- monitors and changes linen and trash chute collection carts
- seals, transports, and stores infectious and confidential waste
- decontaminates and steams trash tubs and barrels
- wears appropriate protective equipment
- supports the Medical Center's Journey to Excellence initiatives
- responds to emergency situations according to policies
- uses tablets for mobile management of linen inventory
- enters restricted access areas without supervision to perform assigned work
- maintains professional growth through seminars and workshops
- participates in meetings, committees, and projects
- performs other related duties as assigned
