Job Requirements
- possess good physical stamina and must be able to endure long periods of time on feet
- ability to do moderate to heavy lifting required
- ability to read and follow basic work instructions required
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior experience in cleaning or janitorial services preferred but not required
- knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- ability to operate cleaning machines and equipment
- basic understanding of safety and sanitation procedures
- good interpersonal skills for team cooperation and public interaction
- ability to follow instructions and adhere to policies
Job Duties
- maintains floor and other surfaces by operating electric washing, stripping, waxing, polishing and vacuuming equipment
- performs all general cleaning duties in assigned work area such as offices, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, examination rooms, patient rooms and special procedure rooms by dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and vacuuming
- inspects assigned area to ensure compliance with department standards
- replenishes dispensers for soap, hand towels, toilet tissue and toilet seat covers
- properly disposes of all refuse including paper, patient fomites, needles, syringes, IV tubing, glass, pressurized cans and isolated trash
- transports and disposes of soiled linen through approved methods
- cleans and maintains all receptacles and replaces liners as needed
- moves equipment and furniture
- cleans equipment such as wheelchairs, gurneys, and hamper holders
- performs additional duties like moving and delivering materials throughout the facility and sanitizing beds and furniture
- participates in staff development and training
- establishes and maintains cooperative relations with personnel, health plan members and the public
- follows Kaiser Permanente service standards including taking initiative, responsibility, care and pride
- assumes other assigned duties as required
