Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in environmental services or related custodial roles
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting moving and operating cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of hospital cleaning protocols and safety regulations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Certification in CHEST or CHESP preferred but not required
Job Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in environmental services housekeeping custodial work or healthcare facility maintenance
- Experience in terminal cleaning waste management and advanced floor care techniques in a healthcare setting preferred
- Advanced knowledge of floor care techniques chemical safety and infection control protocols
- Ability to operate and maintain floor cleaning machines buffers and other specialized cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA EPA and hospital waste disposal regulations
- Strong attention to detail in performing specialized cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Ability to train and mentor new employees ensuring consistent adherence to hospital cleaning standards
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors
- Problem-solving skills to identify and address environmental concerns within the facility
- Certification in Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician CHEST or Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional CHESP preferred
Job Duties
- Performs advanced floor care including stripping waxing buffing deep-cleaning carpets and operating floor maintenance equipment
- Handles the removal segregation and proper disposal of hazardous infectious and noninfectious waste ensuring compliance with OSHA EPA and hospital policies
- Executes terminal cleaning and disinfection procedures in high-risk areas such as operating rooms isolation units and intensive care areas
- Trains and mentors new Environmental Services team members ensuring adherence to proper cleaning techniques infection control protocols and safety procedures
- Assists with special projects such as construction cleanup deep cleaning initiatives and emergency response cleaning efforts
- Moves assembles and adjusts furniture medical equipment and floor mats to support department operations and facility needs
- Monitors and replenishes cleaning supplies reporting inventory shortages and ensuring proper usage to minimize waste
- Identifies and reports maintenance and safety concerns such as damaged flooring leaks or malfunctioning equipment ensuring a prompt response
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance
- Complies with all policies and standards
