Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year healthcare experience preferred
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Cleans surgical area by removing waste and linen, washing down furniture and equipment
  • Replaces furniture and equipment in designated locations preparing for next surgical case
  • Keeps stretchers, IV poles, OR beds, and specialty carts clean and free of tape and suture
  • Removes and replaces sharp containers when full
  • Maintains inventory of oxygen tanks, blankets, cleaning supplies, and other necessary materials
  • Stocks scrubs, masks, face shields, and cleaning solutions in sterile areas
  • Adheres to infection control and safety standards using proper personal protective equipment
  • Transports patients, specimens, and clinical materials ensuring safety and privacy
  • Checks patient ID bands and confirms information prior to transport
  • Assists in training new surgical services assistants
  • Maintains terminal cleaning logs and completes necessary documentation timely
  • Performs weekly autoclave and sterilizer cleaning as per policy
  • Observes patient safety and respects sterile field regulations
