Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- suitability for federal employment determined by background investigation
- successful completion of urinalysis drug screening prior to appointment
- selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
- completion of online onboarding process and provision of acceptable identification
- commitment to serve a one-year probationary period
- physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, and use of heavy powered equipment
- ability to work various shifts including weekends, holidays, and overnight
- compliance with the seasonal influenza vaccination requirement or approved exemption
- adherence to VA policies regarding employment and conduct
- submission of a detailed resume within two pages
- and willingness to collaborate within a mission-driven healthcare environment for Veterans

- Evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to do the work of this position

Job Duties
- Clean wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas
- replenish supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap in dispensers
- sweep, mop, scrub (machine) floors, vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture, clean light globes and Venetian blinds, wash walls, windows, and ceilings by climbing small ladders, refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers and move furniture
- address spills quickly, discard trash, install light bulbs in halls and rooms, and vacuum and polish floors
- defrost and clean patient care refrigerators and ice machines in nourishment kitchen areas
- provide bed-making services in patient care areas and OD rooms
- clean mattresses, springs, bed frames, bedside stands, bed tables, etc. in patient rooms
- empty trash and wastebaskets, replace liners
- transport general refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling to central collection areas
- carry out assignments with minimal supervision
