Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • suitability for federal employment as determined by background investigation
  • pre-employment physical required
  • selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • completion of online onboarding with acceptable identification
  • completion of all application requirements
  • willingness to serve a 1-year probationary period
  • ability to pass required background and credentialing checks
  • no education qualification requirement
  • physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, and lifting over 50 pounds
  • willingness to work Monday through Friday 12:00 AM to 8:30 AM
  • compliance with health requirements including influenza vaccination or approved exemption

Job Qualifications

  • Evidence of training or experience demonstrating the ability to perform custodial duties
  • Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and effectively
  • Capability to operate powered cleaning equipment
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for prolonged walking, standing, and equipment handling
  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and infection control practices
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and use PPE as required

Job Duties

  • Using proper cleaning solutions and/or chemicals to remove stains from various surfaces
  • Applying cleaning solutions to floors, walls, and ceilings for maintenance
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms including urinals, commodes, sinks, and mirrors
  • Cleaning patients' rooms with safe sanitizing chemicals to disinfect surfaces
  • Removing soiled linen from ward or clinic areas using proper collection methods
  • Operating powered cleaning equipment such as scrubbing machines, buffers, carpet cleaners, and industrial vacuums
  • Performing routine maintenance on cleaning equipment like changing filters and brushes
  • Sweeping and mopping floors in high traffic areas including corridors, restrooms, stairways, and cafeterias
  • Following written instructions for completing non-routine cleaning tasks
  • Following oral directions to perform simple multi-step cleaning tasks
