Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • suitability for federal employment as determined by background investigation
  • pass urinalysis drug screening
  • selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • complete online onboarding process with acceptable identification
  • meet application requirements including submitting a resume limited to two pages
  • serve a one-year probationary period
  • willingness to receive annual influenza vaccination or obtain exemption
  • ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
  • ability to safely use heavy powered cleaning equipment
  • comply with safety protocols to avoid injury and exposure to hazardous materials
  • commitment to principles of the U.S. Constitution and federal service efficiency

Job Duties

  • maintain cleanliness of VA facilities to support patient care experience
  • perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and polishing floors
  • clean wards, patient rooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, and other facility areas
  • handle trash removal and manage spills promptly to ensure safety
  • refill supplies such as toilet tissue and towel dispensers
  • carry out assignments with minimal supervision while ensuring high standards
  • operate powered cleaning equipment like industrial buffers and wall washers safely
