Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • suitability for federal employment as determined by a background investigation
  • subject to urinalysis drug screening prior to appointment
  • selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • completion of an online onboarding process with acceptable identification
  • willingness to serve a one-year probationary period
  • compliance with the VA's seasonal influenza vaccination program or exemption
  • capability to complete application and questionnaire by the closing date
  • ability to submit all required documentation including resume
  • commitment to the ideals of the American republic and U.S. Constitution
  • physical ability to perform housekeeping tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Evidence of training or experience demonstrating ability to perform housekeeping duties
  • knowledge of cleaning procedures and safety protocols
  • ability to handle weights and loads safely
  • dependability and reliability in work attendance and task completion
  • ability to follow directions accurately
  • skill in work practices related to housekeeping
  • ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Perform light and heavy janitorial and custodial cleaning duties
  • clean wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas
  • sweep, mop, scrub floors using machines, vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture
  • empty waste baskets and dispose of trash
  • clean light globes and Venetian blinds
  • wash walls, windows, and ceilings
  • refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers
  • move furniture as needed
  • carry out assignments with minimal supervision
