Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of related experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or similar role
- Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 25 lbs and enduring active work conditions
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather
- Ability to follow infection control protocols including PPE and isolation procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or a similar role preferred
- Experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of bed turnover or throughput processes preferred
- Additional license or certification as determined by the hiring department preferred
Job Duties
- Perform cleaning and disinfection of patient discharge rooms and surrounding areas to ensure timely readiness for admissions
- Prioritize and respond to room turnover requests in coordination with nursing, bed management, and environmental services leadership
- Use assigned cleaning tools and products correctly and efficiently to meet hospital cleaning and infection control standards
- Follow infection control protocols including the use of PPE and isolation procedures in patient care areas
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, carts, and floor scrubbers safely and effectively
- Remove soiled linens and remake beds according to department protocols
- Handle soiled linen, regular waste, and medical waste following established safety guidelines
- Maintain equipment and carts in clean, stocked, and ready condition throughout the shift
- Communicate professionally with patients, staff, and visitors using appropriate customer service etiquette
- Train or mentor environmental services technician staff as assigned by leadership
- Complete unit or department-specific duties as outlined in departmental documents
