Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • able to read and write up to a ninth grade level
  • able to speak English
  • six months experience preferred
  • ability to perform physical tasks related to cleaning
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • availability to respond to emergency calls if required
  • willingness to work flexible hours as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • six months experience preferred
  • basic ability to read, write, and speak English
  • familiarity with hospital sanitation and safety procedures preferred
  • ability to follow detailed cleaning instructions and protocols
  • good communication and customer service skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • attention to detail and commitment to quality work

Job Duties

  • Sweeps and mops hospital floors in keeping with policies and procedures
  • posts warning signs if conditions are dangerous
  • cleans patient rooms, bathrooms, and offices in accordance with policies
  • stocks areas with soap, paper towels, and other necessary supplies
  • performs proper waste disposal adhering to handling techniques
  • rotates linens regularly or as requested
  • cleans and makes beds and stretchers upon patient discharges
  • cleans wheelchairs and other equipment such as trashcans and IV pumps as needed
  • vacuums assigned areas daily
  • hangs shower curtains as necessary
  • assists in proper care of equipment and reports malfunctions
  • ensures proper sanitation methods for a safe environment
  • ensures proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous wastes
  • observes waste disposal procedures
  • performs spill clean up including hazardous materials
  • maintains supplies and equipment economically
  • performs room inspections and reports maintenance needs
  • follows customer service communication requirements
  • responds to emergency cleaning needs
