Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
  • One year of experience preferred
  • DOTHAZMAT Certification (US Department Of Transportation Hazardous Materials Certification) required
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to perform job safely determined by assessments
  • Proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members and coworkers
  • Multi-task oriented and able to complete work within designated time frames
  • Ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use housekeeping equipment and chemicals safely
  • Positive and customer service-focused communication
  • Ability to interact professionally with patients, family and staff
  • Willingness to wear uniform and scrubs as required
  • Ability to participate in team meetings and contribute ideas
  • Ability to follow safety policies, infection control procedures, and OSHA standards
  • May require occasional travel within Houston metropolitan area

  • Ability to work full-time or part-time shifts as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English communication including speaking, reading, and writing
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers using customer service principles
  • Ability to multitask and complete work within designated time frames
  • Capable of performing duties accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in the safe use of housekeeping equipment and chemicals
  • Positive, professional demeanor in interpersonal interactions

Job Duties

  • Performs general and moderately complex cleaning tasks in assigned specialty areas
  • Maintains environmental and infection control standards following established policies and procedures
  • Follows AORN standards for turnover and terminal cleaning of procedure rooms
  • Operates floor maintenance equipment and safely handles chemicals and hazardous materials for disposal
  • Coordinates conference room setups and manages linen distribution, collection, and tracking
  • Interacts positively and professionally with patients, family members, and staff
  • Actively participates in team meetings, huddles, and shared governance to promote continuous improvement
  • Responds promptly to requests for assistance and communicates facility or patient-related issues to management
  • Ensures timely and efficient room cleaning processes to facilitate patient admissions
  • Adheres to safety and infection control protocols and complies with OSHA standards
  • Collects and disposes of solid and biohazard waste properly
  • Manages departmental supplies and minimizes waste
  • Participates in continuing education and contributes to a positive teaching environment
  • Monitors and reports safety hazards and repair needs for equipment during cleaning activities
