Job Duties
- Maintains environmental sanitation
- dons appropriate personal protective equipment
- practices infection control isolation precautions
- prepares cleaning solution according to written standards
- cleans equipment and maintains floor stock
- pulls all trash and soiled linen and replaces bags
- properly disposes of infectious waste or linen
- picks up all mats, shakes them to loosen debris and cleans floors underneath
- cleans and shines sinks in zone
- checks zone for equipment and returns it to proper location
- dust mops, wet mops and/or auto scrubs floors in zone
- burnishes floors according to schedule or as needed
- strips and waxes floors according to schedule or as needed
- cleans bathrooms in zone
- replenishes paper products, soap and hand sanitizer in zone
- checks, wipes and refills hand sanitizer dispensers in zone
- completes high and low dusting in zone
- cleans and disinfects in the operating room after surgery
- cleans and disinfects all equipment and surfaces including overhead lights, walls and ceilings
- replaces suction canisters and tubing, trash receptacles and kick buckets
- cleans, disinfects and prepares beds or stretchers for patient transportation
- sets up and prepares operating room tables for next surgical case
- performs cleaning of the operating room including cycle clean and terminal/final clean as needed
- performs periodic cleaning projects
- actively monitors inventory levels of operating rooms
- cleans, disinfects and ultraviolet treats rooms with contact or isolation precautions
- reports work-related injuries and unsafe conditions
- uses effective body mechanics when moving or lifting
- performs transport duties for patients and equipment
- uses assigned telephone properly
- communicates professionally with patients, visitors and staff
- supports team members and assists with orientation of new staff
- completes all annual safety training
- performs duties according to Penn Medicine values and policies
