Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred
- knowledge of hospital cleaning standards and infection control practices
- ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

- adherence to safety guidelines and hospital policies

- willingness to work weekends and varied shifts
Job Duties
- Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, vents, patient television and windows using germicidal solution
- sweep and mop floor areas, dust and damp mop patient rooms, vacuum carpets and spot clean carpet
- clean all blinds, window curtains, and cubicle curtains in all patient rooms including isolation rooms
- operate various types of cleaning equipment both mechanical and electrical
- select cleaning material and supplies and prepare germicidal solutions according to procedures
- load service carts and transport to work area
- clean all bathrooms including patient, private, public disinfecting all fixtures, floors and walls as directed
- clean mirrors and replenish bathroom supplies
- collect waste from all areas of the hospital and sanitize all garbage cans
- collect hazardous waste as established by Infection Control Committee and transport all hazardous waste to pick up area
- perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms promptly assuring everything is sanitized and notify nursing when room is ready
- clean movable furniture and stationary furnishings
- clean all shelves and ledges
- return all unused supplies to supply room, clean carts and equipment ensuring all items are replaced in an orderly manner
- notify director when supply levels are low and when equipment needs repair
- transport clean linen and remove soiled linens from departments
- replenish linen closet
- launder hospital special items such as cleaning clothes, mop heads, pillow covers, restraints, and occasionally operating room scrubs
- fold and deliver linens to departments
- attend hospital in-service programs and departmental meetings
- have knowledge of departmental and hospital policies, procedures and mission
- perform other related duties as assigned
