Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and by phone
  • Ability to read, understand and follow safety instructions for cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work night shift from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
  • Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
  • For CRC incumbents, ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting, bending and walking for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
  • Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Effective communication skills by phone and verbally
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
  • Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
  • Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
  • Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap in all assigned areas
  • Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs
  • May perform special projects such as windows washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
