Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and by phone
- Ability to read, understand and follow safety instructions for cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work night shift from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- For CRC incumbents, ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting, bending and walking for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Effective communication skills by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
- Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap in all assigned areas
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs
- May perform special projects such as windows washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
