Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to understand and apply cleaning procedures and safety protocols
  • Ability to handle and dispose of medical waste safely
  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Availability to work full-time day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Qualifications

  • Previous related experience preferred
  • Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
  • Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • Empties hampers and transports soiled linen
  • Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
  • Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels and hand soap located in assigned areas
  • Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
  • May perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, and meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
