Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to understand and apply cleaning procedures and safety protocols
- Ability to handle and dispose of medical waste safely
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Availability to work full-time day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Job Qualifications
- Previous related experience preferred
- Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- Empties hampers and transports soiled linen
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
- Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels and hand soap located in assigned areas
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
- May perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, and meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
