Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • effective verbal and phone communication skills
  • ability to read and understand safety data sheets and cleaning instructions
  • ability to complete chemical identification stickers
  • ability to follow policies and procedures
  • willingness to learn and perform all cleaning duties thoroughly

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
  • ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • effective communication skills by phone and verbally
  • ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
  • ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
  • previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • additional related education and/or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • plans the completion of cleaning tasks daily
  • empties hampers and transports soiled linen
  • empties trash containers and removes all trash, including medical waste and sharps
  • inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies like toilet tissue, paper towels and hand soap
  • maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and reports necessary repairs
  • protects equipment from damage by proper use and properly logs out and in equipment that has been used
  • performs special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors
  • meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
