Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and understand safety data sheets and chemical usage instructions
- Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- For Crisis Response Center assignments, ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
- Willingness to adhere to hospital policies and safety standards
Job Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Effective communication skills by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste and sharps
- Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs
- Performs special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors and meets customer service satisfaction goals
