Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- effective communication skills
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
- physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing and lifting
- ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- willingness to work day shifts full-time
- for incumbents assigned to Crisis Response Center, ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
Job Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- effective communication skills by phone and verbally
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
- able to fill out chemical identification stickers
- previous related experience preferred
- familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- additional related education or experience preferred
- certification for food handling if assigned to Crisis Response Center
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- plans daily completion of cleaning tasks
- empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
- empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste and sharps
- inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas
- maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs
- properly logs out and in equipment used
- performs special projects such as window washing, wall washing and removing heavily soiled items
- responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors
- meets or exceeds customer service satisfaction goals
- performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements
