Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
  • ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
  • physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing and lifting
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • willingness to work day shifts full-time
  • for incumbents assigned to Crisis Response Center, ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
  • ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • effective communication skills by phone and verbally
  • ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
  • able to fill out chemical identification stickers
  • previous related experience preferred
  • familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • additional related education or experience preferred
  • certification for food handling if assigned to Crisis Response Center

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • plans daily completion of cleaning tasks
  • empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
  • empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste and sharps
  • inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas
  • maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs
  • properly logs out and in equipment used
  • performs special projects such as window washing, wall washing and removing heavily soiled items
  • responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors
  • meets or exceeds customer service satisfaction goals
  • performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements
